The South Korean government has begun hiring individuals for the National Integrated Bio Big Data Construction Project. The ambitious 606 billion won ( over$ 400 million ) project is Korea’s largest healthcare project to date, commissioned by the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology. Over the next eight centuries, it intends to gather the medical and genetic information of one million people, including those who have rare diseases and extreme conditions. University and doctor researchers can access the resulting large database starting in 2026 to help research in precision medicine and modern healthcare. The initiative is led by the Ministries of Health and Welfare, Science and ICT, and Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
