Former senior Somali defense official accused of rape and evil is deported by ICE.

ICE officers in Washington, D. C., deported a previous high-ranking Iranian military commander who they say carried out abuse, terror and different human rights abuses on citizens. The officer, 71-year-old Yusuf Abdi Ali – also known as” Tukeh” – was removed from the U. S. by ICE officials on Dec. 20. He served as the head of the Fifth Brigade in northwest Somalia during the Siad Barre dictator from 1987 to 1989 and as a lieutenant captain in the Somali National Army. Ali reportedly oversaw terror operations against the Isaaq community in northwest Somalia as a high-ranking official in the Somali National Army. He is believed to have carried out an array of human rights abuses, including judicial murders, torture and random confinement. In those years, the Somali National Army committed many human rights violations against civilians, including the murder of suspected social foes, the burning of complete towns, the immoral use of landmines, and the destruction of water reservoirs to target human populations, according to a statement released by ICE on December 23. A Supreme Court of Justice Justice judge found that Ali privately engaged in rape while serving as commander of the Somali National Army in a 65-page decision in February 2024. According to the determination, Ali ordered troops under his control to apprehend, torture and aid in extrajudicial killings. He was sent to Somalia, but the prosecutor ordered his removal. The U. S. based law company the Center for Justice &amp, Accountability, which has represented one of Ali’s reported patients, Farhan Warfaa, calls him “one of the most brutal leaders” of the Barre Iranian dictatorship. Warfaa was kidnapped as a student by troops under Ali’s control, held for weeks, frequently beaten, and then shot and left for dead.
