Trump regains control of the GOP as Republicans fall behind Johnson.

President-elect Trump effectively rallied House Republicans on Friday to re-elect House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La. overcoming heavy political divisions and easing doubts about Trump’s ability to unite the party following the ominous decline of a federal spending bill late last month. Concerns that Trump’s once-ironclad hold on the Republican Party may become waning were immediately put to rest Friday night when he managed to win the majority of the House speaker’s votes despite his party holding just a razor-thin bulk in the room and facing vehement opposition from House Freedom Caucus members. Initial voting by seven Republican against Johnson and seven others remained motionless. Republicans ‘ razor-thin lot allowed Johnson only one GOP diplomat, and after the first round of election, it was vague if, or how, the party had overcome the odds. All but one hold changed their votes, with some praising Trump straight as a indicator of his extended influence in the party. At least two of the Democratic backers who changed their tune to support Johnson as speaker acknowledged doing so after having several meetings with Trump. Trump spoke by phone with both Reps. Ralph Norman, R-S. C., and Keith Self, R-Texas, after they had first voted for citizens other than Johnson for speech. One of the two holdouts who changed his “no” voting to a “yes” voting for Johnson, Self, told investigators on Friday that he made the decision after speaking with the president-elect several times. Self explained to investigators that his support for Johnson was all about how we could achieve the Trump plan. To ensure the success of the Trump plan, the Democratic conference must be powerful. That’s what this was all about,” Norman even after confirmed to reporters that he spoke with Trump. He simply made his point about how Mike is the only candidate who may win the election, Norman said. He added that Johnson had a” devotion that things are going to change” rather than Trump, not his vote. Solutions told Fox News on Friday that the president-elect was in” frequent conversation” with House Republicans throughout the process. The eleven Democratic members of the House Freedom Caucus, who had fought with Johnson late last month about different federal spending bill rules, were blunt with each other. Members stated in a letter on Friday nights that their support for the president-elect was only due to their support for him. The text, authored by Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris, R-Md., and Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said they supported Johnson “because of our unwavering support of President Trump, and to ensure the proper documentation of his delegates”. The letter stated in the headline” We did this despite our honest doubts regarding the Speaker’s record record over the past 15 times.” ” Today, Speaker Johnson may prove he did not fail to implement President Trump’s strong agenda”.Johnson, for his part, thanked Trump immediately in a blog on X. ” Thank you, President Trump! Now is a new morning in America. Republicans in Congress may remain united to give President Trump’s America First agenda, he said. ” Let’s get it done”.
